Anomaly Search Over Many Sequences With Switching Costs

چکیده
This paper considers the quickest search problem to identify anomalies among large numbers of data streams. These streams can model, for example, disjoint regions monitored by a mobile robot. A particular challenge is version in which experimenter must suffer cost each time stream being sampled changes, such as robot spend moving between regions. In this paper, we propose an algorithm accounts switching costs varying confidence threshold that governs when switches new stream. Our main contributions are easily computable approximations both optimal value and parameter determines flagged anomaly, using Brownian motion approximations. Further, empirically show (i) uniform improvement interest (ii) roughly equivalent performance small comparing closest available algorithm.

Examining Online Switching Costs over Search Product and Experience Product Contexts
Many Internet vendors have realized the importance of “locking-in” online customers in order to ensure their profitability. For this reason, many researchers have paid attention to the formation of switching costs which acting as a barrier that prevent customers from easily changing from one vendor to another. Erection of switching barriers will represent an important strategy for locking in cu...
متن کاملQuickest Search over Multiple Sequences with Mixed Observation
The problem of sequentially finding an independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) sequence that is drawn from a probability distribution f1 by searching over multiple sequences, some of which are drawn from f1 and the others of which are drawn from a different distribution f0, is considered. The observer is allowed to take one observation at a time. It has been shown in a recent work that...

متن کاملMarket frictions: A unified model of search costs and switching costs
It is well known that search costs and switching costs can create market power by constraining the ability of consumers to change suppliers. While previous research has examined each cost in isolation, this paper demonstrates the benefits of examining the two types of friction in unison. The paper shows how subtle distinctions between the two costs can provide important differences in their eff...
